Hi friends,

It’s my honor to welcome you to the Brave Strong Girl Community. I look forward to the chance to share a little of my own journey with you in hopes of giving you courage and strength in the midst of your travels.

My life has been transformed by the influence of many mentoring relationships. When I encountered Jesus Christ, I began the most loving and empowering mentoring relationship I have ever known. His love for others and my value for relationships lit afire a life-long passion to build up and encourage others.

The resources and relationships offered as a part of the community at Brave Strong Girl are birthed right out of of my heart.

We all have a need for authentic connection that is easy to access and wise counsel that is easy to share. Whether you would like to reach right out and join into a new experience or you prefer to more slowly ponder and privately glean, you’ll find something and someone here who is just right for your season and your needs.

If you’d like to know more about my coaching ministry or my story of going from weak and afraid to brave and strong, then please join me. You will fit right in with the hundreds of girls who are finding new friends, greater faith, deeper understanding and a growing confidence in God’s love for them through this simple model of community.

Jan’s Story

I am a two-time, Stage IV, 15-year breast cancer survivor. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, I had no idea where to begin to find resources or mentors who could help me along the way. Even though I knew breast cancer was a significant threat to the health of women, it wasn’t until I faced the diagnosis that I began to discover the rich wealth of women, organizations and resources who would become my lifelines.

Over the years I’ve developed a few key relationships, fallen in love with some elegantly simple resources, and eventually, begun to speak out about my own experiences. In my dream world, every woman and her family who find themselves in my shoes would also find the hope that is in Jesus Christ alone.

Please enjoy some of my favorite resources, people and organizations related to healing that will bless anyone who is facing a life-threatening or chronic health issue.

Did you know?

  • Breast cancer will affect an average of 1 in 8 women.

  • Breast cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths in the world.

  • Studies show that when detected early, the chance for survival of breast cancer is nearly 100%.

My Resources:

  • Healed of Cancer: This little book by Dodie Osteen totally rocked my world during my first round of cancer. It is proof the Word of God is powerful and can save your life. Her simple testimony of complete healing and her clear "how-to" use the Scripture to overcome helped save my life.

If you are in a cancer battle, carry this book with you everywhere. I pulled it out countless times while sitting in waiting rooms or finding myself in moments of insecurity. I also printed out all of her scriptures with their declarations and posted them all over my home. This is also a great gift for someone struggling with cancer.

  • Living Right-side Up—Flipping the Script of Your Story: A collaborative book to help you overcome stress and struggle.

I share specifically in this collaborative book by the Gateway Women's Leadership team about the strategy God gave me for overcoming adversity. Drawing upon my battle with breast cancer, I reveal keys to help navigate in the midst of your own challenging seasons.
